I’m not one to believe in New Year’s resolutions, NEW year SAME you… I feel it’s just a way of disappointing ourselves. Yet somehow we always fall into the same trap! Signing up for gym memberships, deep cleaning our closets, our makeup vanities! I can’t believe we’re half way thru the month of January already! I have major goals this 2017 that I hope to pursue.
One thing I told myself I would try to change, to mold my mind this year is on how I VIEW MY ART.
It’s so easy to be overly critical of who we are and what we love. I really dislike that about myself, I try to live life positively but I’m human and I sometimes over analyze every little thing. “I could have blended more, I should have used more blush, am I sure I want to post this?” I think only because of how the world is now people will tear you apart with their “pettiness” the competition is real outchea! LOL..
I was reading a book I picked up awhile back Milk + Honey by Rupi Kaur it’s a great read. Deep poetry with beautiful meanings that can impact us each differently. I wanted to share one of her poems that really made me think about how I view my art work.
“Your art is not about how many people like your work. Your art is about if your heart likes your work, if your soul likes your work. It’s about how honest you are with yourself and you must never trade honesty for relatability. “– to all young poets
This touched me in so many ways, I have to love my work not for others but for me. I’ve said it so many times I truly love what I do, I love to GLAM up my clients make them feel beautiful. I don’t do it for the money, it’s never been about the money. All I care about is how my clients feel and look. The feeling I get as I’m doing makeup is complete PEACE, my mind isn’t over thinking anything. When my clients see themselves in the mirror my heart skips a beat for a few seconds and when I see them smile that’s when I KNOW this is what I’m supposed to be doing. This is the reason why I LOVE MY WORK.
This weekend I had the pleasure of doing makeup on a lovely bride and her bridal party, in Conroe TX. At the Venue AMBER SPRINGS, it was drop dead GORGEOUS! Everything was perfect.
This was my last bride for the year 2016, i cherised my last client of the year. Looking back how far ive came, how many people have believed in me, choose me for their special day. I couldnt help but feel so much happiness and over filled with joy.
My bride was the sweetest as can be! She told me she wanted to feel beautiful and sexy and basically let me just freehand her look. I came up with a little bronzy dark look with a touch of glitter. She looked stunning , was in love with her look and that’s all that mattered to me.

She was so kind and left me the sweetest review that seriously made me so happy I had to share it with everyone.
“Leslie was amazing! She is the sweetest and most patient! And her makeup was flawless! My husband could NOT stop complimenting how beautiful I looked. She was so punctual and kind to everyone single one of my bridesmaids. In no way was she ever rushing to finish them. She was simply the best for my special day, I’d choose her again and again. “
OMG you guys! This is what makes my job so rewarding! I want the work that I love so much to make you feel beautiful, I strive to make that possible each and every time. I want my passion to be shown and seen on you! Perfect Ending to a perfect year. 2016 you were good to me!
