Anastasia Beverly Hills just released its highly awaited Stick foundations, everyone was super hyped about this foundation because of the variety in the shades. (i know i was) every product that ABH has came out with i adore. I knew the foundation stick wouldn’t disappoint.
Now before i saw this color chart i thought i knew my shade, i assumed id just get a light medium yellow tone an that would be it. ABH and her daughter Norvina REALLY put so much effort into this campaign and into their shades. You can clearly see they thought of us ALL. EVERY SKIN TONE, UNDER TONE. ITS ALL THERE. Not only did they blow our mind with the shade selection but they also have 3 contour shades and 1 highlight or banana shade.

I had trouble picking the right shade for me i took 3 whole days of debating. I was so confused by the chart lol and by all the talk on twitter.. i started thinking to myself omg what am i?! what is my shade?!! the struggle was real ladies. ABH was kind enough to break down their shades SWATCH by SWATCH ON snapchat into MAC shades. Something a lot of us girls know like the back of our hands, we all tend to speak MAC!
For the application i used a brush, sponge and my fingers. I loved the finish with a flat top kabuki brush better then anything else. It gave the most coverage with out losing any product. I noticed when i used a BBlender my foundation and coverage would disappear!
The first night i wore this foundation I got a slight sheen throughout the evening but nothing that broke up around my nose (were it usually goes first) i also did NOT use a primer. I also tried layering the foundation, it layered well and i was able to get a medium to full coverage.
The formula is really pigmented and like i mentioned buildable coverage. The finish for me personally was a skin like- satin matte finish. Which are my favorite i don’t like to look to flat or too shiny I’m picky i know lol. The first night i only wore it for about 5hrs max. It did last the whole evening, i got shiny in my zone only and it did cling to my dry patches. I tend to get dry around my nose, my cheek/chin area. A very small amount of makeup creased and clung in those areas, however with the proper skin prep that can be avoided.
We all know how humid and hot Houston is! So i wanted to give the foundation another run and wear it out a little longer. The next time I tried it I set/baked my tzone area that lasted me a good 10hrs I still needed to touch up bcus I had a bit of fading around my mouth an chin. Bronzer, blush and highlight were still poppin which means youre wearing a good foundation.
I wore this foundation with a warm brown smokey eye using the ABH Shadow Couture World Traveler Palette one of my favorite palettes EVER.
Eyes ABH Shadow Couture Palette
Brows ABH Soft Brown BrowPowder
My overall rating of this foundation is a 7/10
i did like this foundation maybe for day to day wear but i was not INLOVE with it. I guess I was expecting a little more YASSS with this foundation and I didn’t get that feeling.
I can feel it on my skin and it felt a bit heavy, the shade situation was a little difficult for me to choose my perfect match. Since I don’t personally like neutral foundations. Now don’t get me wrong the foundation gives you beautiful skin look finish, and it has beautiful packaging but for me its not a MUST HAVE.
- I wasnt sold on the coverage disappearing when blending.
- The texture of the foundation
- The longevity of the foundation
- The tone i purchased for myself
Also if your skin is on the dryer side, you WILL NOT like this foundation. This foundation is more for the oily/combo skin types. Since this is a dryer formula it will make you look even drier and also cling to your dry spots. If you’re about that thug life and want to try it out anyway use a good hydrating primer or primer oil before 😉
