When there is a new ting out in the drugstore world im all for it, I love trying out products and see if they live up to their word. You about it? Be about it right! So when wet n wild beauty announced their new gem I was all excited. IT WAS ALL THE HYPE on social media, an affordable, full coverage, matte foundation, perfect for photography!
People were comparing it to the MUFE HD foundation, I’ve mentioned before but im an oily girl so I love matte finishes so I don’t typically use the MUFE HD.
I searched for this foundation for a good 2 weeks even had my friend Cristina searching for the foundation on her side of the hood lol. She knew I wanted to try it out! We couldn’t ever find it at CVS, Walmart anywhere it was always sold out.
Of course that made me want it more! Like AH! Everyone is loving it lol. I finally picked it up at my local Walmart. The shade selection had me confused, it looked like they had many shades and ranging for cool & warm undertones. Yet I had to mix 2 shades to get my perfect match – (NC25-NC30 skin tone LIGHT- MEDIUM with yellow undertones)
SOFT BEIGE + GOLDEN BEIGE were the two tones I mixed
The next thing I noticed was the packaging, I loved the glass bottle it’s nice and sleek. Now the application spatula itself I’m not too crazy about but honestly it doesn’t matter much since I pour it out onto my hand anyways.
SMELL. OH MY… the smell is STRONG! It’s like straight up PAINT! Very heavy scent when first applied but after the foundation has been on the skin the smell goes away for me. I used this foundation with a damp beauty blender I figured this to be the best way of application.
Eventho the foundation was light weight- I could literally feel it and see it on my skin. I don’t usually mind this from foundation because I’m a full coverage type of girl. BUT… this foundation made my skin look SO UGLY, leathery looking. I can’t describe exactly but it enhanced EVERY PORE on my skin. Even with a smoothing primer my skin looked disgusting.
I tried this foundation for 3 days and each day it made my skin worse, and my makeup application WHACK! I noticed the more I tried working with it, the more congested my skin was. It clogged my pores horribly, left me with lots of under the skin bumps, and white heads all over my chin area.
The first day I tried it I actually liked how it looked, I used a VERY small amount because I was going for a super easy Basic Betty Makeup look, it didn’t separate for up to 6hrs for sure and my blush and bronzer were still on which is a good sign.. However I did notice that when I set the foundation with a translucent powder (I used 2 air spun + ben Nye) the color of the foundation oxidized and got to a darker orangey tone on those areas.
- Affordable Price
- Glass Bottle
- Doesn’t separate (8hrs)
I wish I had more to say about this foundation, I wish I loved it. I just tell myself not everything is for everyone. I do these reviews to help my beauties out there so they’re not left out when a product just doesn’t work for them.
For the low price I suggest you try it out if you’re looking for something for good wear for the summer now that it’s going to start getting hotter… I on the other hand rather spend a few more dollars and use my Loreal infallible pro matte or my Maybelline matte + poreless foundation.
Have you tried out this foundation? What did you think about it?
